The sun is a star. It is a bright object in the sky. As it is faraway from us, we see it small. Surrounding it there are nine main planets. Our earth is one of them. They all rotate round the sun. The sun is seen during the day time only. The moon is called a satellite as it rotates round the earth.

The sun gives us light and heat. If the sun does not rice we would be in the dark. As the sun’s rays are so strong we cannot watch them straight.

The earth gets heat, light and energy from the sun. All living things exist with sun – light. When the sun sets the darkness follows. People need darkness to rest. The sun has a great influence on all living and non living things on earth.

Even today some people in some parts of the world worship the sun as a god. It is a gift of the nature.
